The Spanish G&T is all about the garnish. The possibilities are endless, but the idea is to choose garnishes that complement both the gin and the tonic.
London Dry and other juniper-forward gin's pair well with Classic Tonic, fresh herbs, citrus, and juniper berries. American and other floral-forward gins take well to Indian Tonic and fresh seasonal fruits and edible flowers.
Spanish G&T Recipe:
2 oz gin
4 oz tonic*
2 dashes bitters, optional
Stir all ingredients together with ice in a wide-mouthed wine glass and garnish (*see above for recommendations).
Ah, the classic Paloma: it's tart, refreshing, and easy to make. The salt rim is optional, but it adds an enjoyably savory dimension. If you're looking for an extra kick, try rimming your glass with Tajín.
2 oz reposado tequila
.5 oz lime juice
Garnish: rim glass with lime wedge and salt (optional), fresh herbs and grapefruit or lime wedge
Stir all ingredients together in an ice-filled glass and garnish if desired.
